Sandra and Bjørn met each other in 2002 through the hospitality industry in Norway. Both worked in the hospitality industry to live out their gastronomic passions and, most of all, meet exciting foodies from all over the world.
It was not until 2010 that Sandra and Bjørn received their professional certificate through the well-known fine dining restaurant Molskroen in Djursland, Jutland. With further inspiration from the charming French bistros and cafés in Aarhus and hospitlity experience from their international travels, the mission of ONE TEN was to show their combined interpretation of the French/Nordic inspired cuisine.
In 2014, Sandra and Bjørn opened their first restaurant in South Jutland. With no money in their pockets, they initially made lease agreements with various experience centers in South and West Jutland. Only after 3 challenging years of corona lockdowns did Sandra and Bjørn take the final step to finally buy their own restaurant.
The choice of premises located in Copenhagen's medieval quarter was based on the unique history of the area. The Napoleonic Wars had a great impact on the area and Sankt Peders Stræde 27 (ONE TEN adress) was rebuilt after the horrific terror bombing by the british in 1807 and was completed in 1809. Nutural Denmark at the time then chose to side with the French - with of course a devastating endgame for Denmark and France.
ONE TEN's neighbor is Denmark's oldest bakery, opposite you will find Denmark's oldest college and one of Denmark's first kindergartens (asylum). Further down the street we find Copenhagen's oldest church Sankt Petri and next to that we find Copenhagen's oldest building from 1420 belonging to the University of Copenhagen.
What is special about the historical quarter is that there is a charming and thriving local community, where several of the residents experienced and proudly tell about the street's occupation battles against the city's capitalist forces back in the 70's and 80's. The fact that the residents still live here is just evidence of who pulled the longest straw.
Being allowed to contribute to the neighborhood atmosphere in this gem of Copenhagen was a challenge Sandra and Bjørn simply couldn't resist. With a focus on Sandra's culinary experience from high-end restaurants, Bjørn's passionate travels in the world of wine, and their shared pride in the profession, the foundation for ONE TEN was set.
The restaurant's lower floor is originally an old business premises, which has now been converted into ONE TEN's entrance hall, cocktail bar and wine cellar with space for a la carte guests, medium-sized groups and exclusive shows like authentic classic French Burlesque with the performers performing amongs the guests. The restaurant's upper floor is originally a charming old Copenhagen apartment, where we find two charming living rooms with space for a la carte guests, private dining events, business groups. Here we also find the infamous Plateau de Fromage og ONE TEN Providence showcased between more wine shelves and of course the heart of it all - Sandra's proud kitchen.
The name "Restaurant ONE TEN Providence" originates from Sandra's childhood address, 110 Providence, Georgetown Guyana. ONE TEN thus represents Sandra's warmhearted childhood home, where all guests are welcomed as if they were part of the family. The experience, spiced with Sandra's good food, deliciously composed wine menus and the welcoming hospitality, creates a very special dining experience. A haven for food-loving foodies who seeks the simple joy in a common passion - that of enjoying delicious food and wine in a welcoming atmosphere.
Welcome to ONE TEN Providence...
